The New Forest National Park is an area of approximately 220 square miles, situated right on the south-central coast of England, the majority of which is occupied by the New Forest - a unique mixture of wooded areas and open heathland.

The National Park status was given to the New Forest - affectionately called 'The Forest' by locals - and it's immediate surrounding areas on the 1st March 2005, after much debating and a public enquiry which lasted for seven months.

This new status was received with mixed feelings, but one thing that everyone does agree on is that the Forest has an exciting and secure future ahead of it, for all to enjoy.
