Icod de los Vinos is a pleasant village located north west of Tenerife, just east of the town of Garachico, and about a half hour drive west of the more famous resort town of Puerto de la Cruz. Its location just below the volcano Teide, has repeatedly threatened the residents of Icod de los Vinos, most recently for a few years ago when Teide had little activity, and it was feared an outbreak. If you plan to rent a car one day, it's great to run on this side of the island.
