The Olympic Regional Development Authority in Lake Placid, New York operates the venues used during the 1980 Winter Olympics. Included is Whiteface for skiing, snowboarding and mountain biking; the Verizon Sports Complex for bobsled, luge, skeleton, cross country skiing, biathlon and mountain biking as well as bobsled rides and luge rocket rides for the public; the Olympic Ski Jumping Complex for Nordic jumping and freestyle aerial skiing; and the Olympic Center with four indoor ice sheets including the famous 1980 Rink Herb Brooks Arena, site of the Miracle on Ice; and the outdoor skating oval where Eric Heiden captured five gold medals in 1980. ORDA also operates Gore Mountain in North Creek, N.Y.
