Since 1955, the Great Lakes Commission has dedicated its efforts toward securing a clean environment, strong economy, and high quality of life for the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence region and its citizens. An eight-state compact agency founded in state and federal law, the Commission represents the collective views of the eight Great Lakes states. A newly established Associate Membership program provides for enhanced Canadian provincial involvement and a binational focus.

Binational agency that promotes the orderly, integrated and comprehensive development, use and conservation of the water and related natural resources of the Great Lakes basin and St. Lawrence River. Information on water, air, wetlands, maritime transportation, and other topics and issues.
