The School of Information Sciences is recognized nationally and internationally as an interdisciplinary program of excellence in the information sciences. The University of Tennessee, Knoxville was founded in 1794 and was designated the state land-grant institution in 1879. The University now has nearly 26,000 students and 400 academic programs.
