The Galloping Ghost: Red Grange, an American Football Legend

2024-06-09

The Galloping Ghost tells the story of Red Grange, an American sports legend, who is considered one of the best football players ever to put on a uniform. In the 1920s, the Golden Age of American sports, Granges popularity rivaled that of baseball legend Babe Ruth. Grange, a poor kid who helped support his family by laboring as an iceman, was a deer-like runner, a three-time All-American who rose to athletic heights in the biggest games. He had two of the greatest performances ever in college sports andagainst the mores of the timesturned pro, creating a maelstrom, and in the process became a seminal sports figure, a symbol for rebellious manhood, and an American icon.
