Lineages

SGI Canada is the Canadian member organization of the Soka Gakkai International. There are SGI Canada centres in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City. Soka Gakkai International (SGI) is a global organization devoted to peace, culture and education, based on the humanistic Buddhist philosophy of Nichiren Daishonin. SGI members represent the full spectrum of society, with members of all ages, ethnic and social backgrounds.

The Los Angeles Friendship Center is primarily for used for Buddhist practice and study. In addition to its primary use, SGI-USA, along with neighborhood associations, promote activities based on peace, culture, education and art. Many events cover interesting topics such as Human Rights, Non-Violence, Relationships and Self Transformation. These events are generally open to the public at no cost, and often include guest lecturers, and various programs for youth.
